Campus networks; switching and VLANs

Description

Recently, the main element of upgrade in enterprise networks is the implementation of switches. The main advantages offered by switches include increased network performance, creation of virtual LANs (VLANs) and QoS features.

This course will help you understand the process of segmentation and micro segmentation, operation switches and VLANs as well as to describe the protocols associated with switching.

Prerequisite:

Having completed the course introduction to telecommunications or possess equivalent knowledge.

Target audience:

Managers, technicians and network administrators whose duties require knowledge of infrastructure and operation of switched networks and VLANs.

Learning objective:

1. Identify the components of a LAN;
2. Describe the operation of bridges and switches;
3. Explain the process of "spanning tree protocol"
4. Describe how VLANs and 802.1Q;
5. Describe the features of VRRP and 802.1p.
